David Henderson, Senior Warden
David Henderson serves as Senior Warden of Sunrise Daylight Lodge No. 1433. The Senior Warden is the second of the lodge’s three principal officers and is the Worshipful Master’s principal deputy.
If the Worshipful Master is absent, the Senior Warden may preside as acting Master and carry out the Master’s responsibilities in lodge business.
The Role of the Senior Warden
The Senior Warden assists the Worshipful Master in governing the lodge and is expected to attend stated meetings regularly. The lodge relies on his knowledge of Masonry, sound judgment, and attachment to the lodge in the faithful discharge of this important office.
The position is filled annually by election. Traditionally, the Senior Warden may be considered for election as the next Worshipful Master.
The Level: Jewel of the Office
The Level is associated with the Senior Warden’s office. It reminds Masons that all people share the same nature and hope, and that distinctions of rank should never cause a brother to forget the equality, dignity, and goodness owed to others.
